We all know about it…so let`s inspire each other to keep on taking the right actions.
Here are two actions I have been taking to de-plastify myself. Which are yours?
As well explained by Trash is for Tossers, I tagged my main source of plastic and started-substituting it:
Action 1. After taking a closer look, I realized that my major source of plastic trash was food packaging. So I decided to visit new markets that offer package free food. That is how I got to know new places and I even got to save money. Now I enjoy a walk to the main square every Saturday and buy at the local market or visit the bio-market and get other package-free products.
Action 2. In Venezuela it is common to receive free plastic bags with the groceries. Since some years, the bags have been replaced by bio-degradable ones, made from starch. As soon as I moved to Germany, I started using my colorful backpack (you can see it on the picture 🙂 ). It is not only easier to carry around, but it prevents me from buying unnecessary paper or plastic bags.
Extra Action: If I ever buy water in a plastic bottle, I make sure to recycle it. Where I live the bottles cost some extra cents that are refunded by a special machine when giving them back (‘german Pfand’). In that way, the proper recycling of plastic bottles is guaranteed. In any case, nano particles from these plastic bottles can still leak out during the recycling process and pollute the oceans! So the less we use plastic bottles the better.
Before ending this post, I want to know what do you see on the collage of these post?
I attempted to recreate the refreshing feeling of the beach. Luckily, before traveling to Paradise I found out that in Paradise trash was generating a bunch of troubles (more info here). Not only contaminating its gorgeous waters but affecting human life in an extreme way. I collected my trash, and brought it back to Germany, where we have a really good recycling system. I tried to create a little bit of art … hope you see the palm tree by the Sea coast! It is my little piece of art, created with thrash. Trash that got a better destiny than contaminating vibrant nature!
Posting to you soon!
